Utslippsreduksjon
Local and global regulations concerning exhaust gas emissions from engines have grown significantly tougher in recent years. Among those that affect power plants are regulations that limit emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx), sulphur oxides (SOx) and particles.
Meeting emission regulations
Some emissions can be reduced via the engine itself. NOx formation, for example, can be limited by optimizing the combustion process. Other emissions, however, can be more difficult to combat.
SOx emissions, for instance, are a direct result of the sulphur content in the fuel. If switching to a low-sulphur fuel is not an option, the use of a scrubber like Alfa Laval PureSOx is the only solution for controlling SOx emissions.
Nor can all particle emissions be eliminated by optimizing combustion. Crankcase gas emissions, for example, have come into focus as an area where improvements should be made. Alfa Laval PureVent offers a radical new approach to the cleaning of crankcase gas in high-capacity installations, providing a cleaning efficiency as high as 99.9%.
